About the Story of Haapus
The film Haapus tells an important story about people in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, India. It focuses on farmers who grow Alphonso mangoes, also known as Haapus Aamba. This movie is a light-hearted comedy that everyone can enjoy.
A Family and Their Mangoes
The story is about a family in a village. The main character is Anna Gurav, who is an astrologer. An astrologer is someone who believes they can predict the future by studying the positions of stars and planets. Anna's predictions are very important in his village, Wanarwadi.
Anna's son, Ajit, has a different idea. Ajit has developed a new type of mango. He wants to help the mango farmers get a fair price for their fruit. Currently, they sell their mangoes for very little money to a rich businessman. This businessman then earns a lot of money in the market.
Clash of Ideas
Ajit wants to sell the mangoes directly in the market. This would help the farmers earn more. However, Anna strongly believes in his astrology. His predictions say that selling mangoes directly is not good for their family. This creates a big disagreement between father and son.
The Gurav family also includes Anna's twin daughters. Amruta is very independent and likes to do things her own way. Ankita is more quiet and is in love with Subhya, the local rickshaw driver. A school teacher named Digamber Kale also joins the Gurav family and becomes an important part of their lives.
