Hacienda Citincabchén is a special kind of old estate found in the Chapab Municipality in Yucatán, a state in southeastern Mexico. It was built a long time ago, in the 1800s, when a plant called henequen was very important for making ropes and other things.

What's in a Name?
The name "Citincabchén" comes from the ancient Mayan language. It means "I only like honey."
Over the years, the name of this place changed a few times. In 1910, it was called Cituncabchén. Then in 1921, it became Citilcalchén. Finally, in 1930, it went back to being called Citincabchén.
Finding Hacienda Citincabchén
This hacienda and the nearby town are located between two other towns, Muna and Tekit. It's about 68 kilometers (or 42 miles) south of Mérida, Yucatán, which is a big city in Yucatán.
A Look at Its History
Hacienda Citincabchén was once a busy place where henequen was grown and processed. Henequen is a plant that looks like a cactus, and its fibers were used to make ropes and other useful products.
In 1916, during a time of big changes in Mexico called the Revolution, there was a disagreement about workers' rights at this hacienda. This issue was discussed in special hearings led by Governor Salvador Alvarado.
