Hallo Berlin facts for kids
Hallo Berlin was a German restaurant in New York City. It was located in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan, on Tenth Avenue. This restaurant was known for its special outdoor area called a beer garden. It also had a street cart that served food on the go.
Hallo Berlin offered real German food and German beer. Some of the popular dishes included frankfurters, sauerkraut, potato pancakes, red cabbage, and spätzle. They also served different kinds of wursts. The restaurant's fun motto was: "New York's wurst restaurant." Sadly, the owners announced that Hallo Berlin would close in June 2017.

Hallo Berlin was run by Rolf Babiel and his family. After Rolf passed away in October 2009, his wife and sons continued to operate the restaurant. There was also another Hallo Berlin location in Conklin, New York.
The Famous Food Cart
Hallo Berlin had a very popular food cart. This cart was located on 54th Street and Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. It became quite famous!
In 2004, a magazine called New York recognized the cart. They named it one of the top four places for a "best power lunch" in the city. The Hallo Berlin food cart also won a special award in 2005. It received the Vendy Award, which meant it was ranked as the best among all the street food sellers in New York City that year.
