Hamlet, Missouri facts for kids
Hamlet is a small place in Missouri, a state in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially part of a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the larger county government, which in this case is Cedar County.
A Look Back: Hamlet's History
This community got its name from a person named Charles Hamlet. He was a local merchant, which means he owned a business that sold goods. For a while, the area was also known by a different name: Sexson.
The Sexson Post Office
Back in 1893, a post office was opened in the community, and it was called the Sexson Post Office. A post office is a place where people can send and receive mail, buy stamps, and sometimes even handle money orders. This post office served the community for several years before it closed down in 1906.
