Hans-Michael Rehberg was born in Fürstenwalde, Germany. He was one of six children. His family later moved to Lake Starnberg in Bavaria, where he grew up.
He studied acting at the Folkwang School in Essen from 1956 to 1958. His professional acting career began at the Theater Krefeld und Mönchengladbach.
Becoming a Bavarian State Actor
Soon after, he joined the Residenztheater in Munich. At just 30 years old, he was given the special title of Bavarian State Actor. This is an honor given to actors who have shown outstanding talent in Bavaria.
In 1973, he moved to the Münchner Kammerspiele, another famous theater. In 1975, he joined the Schauspielhaus Hamburg. Hans-Michael Rehberg was a very versatile actor. This means he could play many different kinds of roles. He performed in almost every major German-speaking theater.
Beyond the Stage: Film and TV
Besides theater, Rehberg was also very active in television and cinema. He was also a director, guiding other actors and plays. He received several awards for his work. Hans-Michael Rehberg passed away in Berlin at the age of 79.
