  • Political Agent of Malakand: In 1895, he became the first Political Agent of the Malakand. A Political Agent was like a special representative for the British government in a specific area. Their job was to manage relationships with local leaders and keep things running smoothly.
  • Chief Commissioner of the North-West Frontier Province: On November 9, 1901, a new area called the North-West Frontier Province was created. Sir Harold Deane was chosen to be its very first Chief Commissioner. This meant he was the main leader and manager of this new province. He held this position until 1908.
