Hart is a small, quiet place in the northwest part of McDonald County, Missouri. It's not a big city or town, but rather an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city does.
You can find Hart along Missouri Route 43. It's located north of a place called Tiff City. Hart is also very close to the border between Missouri and Oklahoma, less than half a mile away!
History of Hart
The community of Hart once had its own post office. This post office first opened its doors in 1883. It helped people send and receive mail for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1911.
So, where did the name "Hart" come from? There are a couple of ideas! One idea is that it was named after Phillip Rinehart. He was an early postmaster, which is the person in charge of a post office. It's thought that a part of his last name, "Hart," was used for the community. Another story says the community was named after W. B. Hart. He was an important person who lived there a long time ago, known as a "pioneer citizen."
