Henley, Ohio facts for kids
Henley is a small place in Scioto County, Ohio, in the U.S. state of the USA. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it is a group of homes and businesses that does not have its own local government like a city or town.
History of Henley
Henley began as an important spot for trains. It was a "railway shipping point." This means it was a place where goods were loaded onto trains to be sent to other areas. For Henley, this was mainly wood from nearby forests. This was a big part of the "lumber industry," which uses wood to make things.
The community was named after a person called Reverend R. B. Henley. He was a "railroad promoter." This means he helped to plan and build new train lines.
Henley even had its own post office for many years. It first opened in 1882. People could send and receive their mail there. However, the post office closed down in 1936.
