Henry Panion III, PhD

Henry Panion, III is a very talented American musician. He is a composer, which means he writes music. He is also an arranger, who changes music for different instruments or voices. Plus, he's a conductor, leading orchestras and choirs. He is also a professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, teaching music to students.

He has worked with many famous artists. These include Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, and even American Idol winners Carrie Underwood and Ruben Studdard. He helped them create amazing music.

Panion also started the UAB Recording Studio. This is where groups like the UAB Gospel Choir and the UAB Jazz Ensemble made their award-winning recordings.

In 2009, he received a special award called the Civic and Cultural Advancement Award. He got this from the Congressional Black Caucus in Washington, D.C. This award recognized his important contributions to culture.
