Henry Sewall (born in 1544 – died in 1628) was an important English businessman and politician. He was a member of the House of Commons (like today's Parliament) from 1621 to 1622.

Henry Sewall was the son of Sir William Sewall and Matilda Home. His family lived in a city called Coventry. Henry became a "linen draper," which means he sold linen cloth. He was very good at his business and became quite wealthy.

Henry Sewall's Life in Coventry

Henry Sewall was a well-known person in Coventry. He served as the mayor of Coventry twice! First, he was mayor in 1587, and then again in 1606. Being mayor meant he was the main leader of the city.

In 1621, the people of Coventry chose him to be their Member of Parliament. This meant he would represent Coventry in the House of Commons, helping to make laws for England.

Family Life and Legacy

Henry Sewall married Margaret Grazebrook. They had two sons named Henry and Richard. Henry Sewall lived to be about 84 years old. He passed away in Coventry and was buried in a special part of St Michael's Church. His great-grandson, Samuel Sewall, also became a very famous person later on.
