Early Life and Military Service

Henry Trenchard was born in 1668. His father was George Trenchard, and his mother was Mary. When he was older, Henry joined the army. In 1690, he became a Cornet, which was a junior officer. He later became a Lieutenant in different army groups, including the 34th Foot regiment in 1702.

In 1705, Henry Trenchard married Mary Fulford. She was a widow and the daughter of John Tuckfield. Through this marriage, Henry gained ownership of the Fulford estate in Devon.

A Career in Politics

Henry Trenchard decided to enter politics. In 1713, he was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the area of Dorchester. An MP is someone chosen to represent their local area in the House of Commons.

He was a member of the Tory party. This was one of the main political groups at the time. He was re-elected without anyone running against him in 1715. Henry Trenchard served as an MP until his death in 1720.

Later Life

Henry Trenchard passed away on March 18, 1720. He did not have any children.
