Colonel Henry Washington (1615–1664) was an officer in the Royalist army. He fought during the English Civil War.
Life as a Royalist Officer
Henry Washington was born in March 1615. His father was Sir William Washington. His mother was Anne Villiers.
Henry became an officer in the Royalist army. The Royalists supported King Charles I during the English Civil War. This war was fought in England from 1642 to 1651.
In 1646, Henry Washington became the Governor of Worcester. This meant he was in charge of the city. He died in March 1664. He was buried in Richmond, Surrey.
Family Life
Henry Washington married Elizabeth Pakington. She was the daughter of Sir John Pakington.
Henry and Elizabeth had four daughters. After Henry died, Elizabeth married Samuel Sandys.
