Henry Williams was the son of Robert Williams from Caehalfa. He was likely the grandson of Sir David Williams of Gwernyfed. Henry held important local jobs in Wales. He was the High Sheriff of Breconshire in 1639. A High Sheriff was a key official who helped keep law and order in a county. He also served as the High Sheriff of Radnorshire in 1649.
Political Career
In 1654, Henry Williams was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP) for Radnorshire. An MP is someone elected to represent an area in the House of Commons. He served in the First Protectorate Parliament. This was a special government period in England's history.
Williams was re-elected as an MP for Radnorshire in 1656. He then served in the Second Protectorate Parliament. He was elected again in 1659 for the Third Protectorate Parliament. After his time as an MP, in 1662, Williams moved to Cathedine in Breconshire. He became the High Sheriff of Breconshire once more.
Family Life
Henry Williams married Mayzod Evans. Mayzod was the widow of Leisan Evans of Gnoll, Neath. Her father was a judge named David Jenkins from Hensol in Glamorgan.
