Henryk Cioch was a Polish lawyer, university teacher, and politician. He was born on July 30, 1951, and passed away on December 20, 2017. He served as a Senator in the Polish Parliament. Later, he became a judge in Poland's highest court, the Constitutional Tribunal.
Growing Up and Studying Law
Henryk Cioch finished high school in Lubaczów, Poland, in 1969. Four years later, in 1973, he graduated with honors. He earned his law degree from the University of Maria Curie-Sklodowska (UMCS) in Lublin.
After graduating, Cioch began working as an assistant at the Institute of Civil Law. In 1982, he earned his doctorate. This means he completed advanced studies and wrote a special research paper called a "doctoral thesis." His thesis was about property rights.
His Career in Politics
Henryk Cioch became involved in important national groups. In December 2008, he was chosen to lead the Scientific Council of the Institute of Stefczyka. This group helps with economic research.
In January 2010, the President of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, asked him to join the National Development Council. This council advises the president on how to help Poland grow.
Becoming a Senator
In 2011, Henryk Cioch decided to run for a political office. He ran as an independent candidate for the Senate of Poland. The Senate is the upper house of Poland's Parliament. He was supported by the political party called Law and Justice.
Cioch campaigned for the Senate seat and won the election. He received 52,961 votes from the people. He served as a Senator until 2015, when he retired from this role. After that, he became a judge.
His Final Years
Henryk Cioch passed away on December 20, 2017. He was 66 years old when he died in Lublin, Poland.
