Herman Bell (born April 18, 1915 – died September 27, 1970) was an American baseball player. He played as a catcher in the Negro leagues from 1940 to 1950.
Early Life and Career
Herman Bell was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He started his professional baseball career in 1940. His first team was the Indianapolis Crawfords.
Playing for the Black Barons
After his debut, Bell joined the Birmingham Black Barons. He played for this team for eight seasons. During his time with the Black Barons, he became a well-known player.
All-Star Recognition
In 1949, Herman Bell was chosen for a special game. He played in the East–West All-Star Game. This game featured the best players from the Negro leagues. It was a big honor for him.
Later Life
Herman Bell finished his baseball career in 1950. He passed away in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, in 1970. He was 55 years old.
