Hermann Erbel (born November 18, 1949), known as Herman Rarebell, is a famous German musician. He is best known as the drummer for the rock band Scorpions. He played with them from 1977 to 1996, appearing on eight studio albums.

Besides playing drums, Herman Rarebell also helped write many songs for the Scorpions. He wrote or co-wrote songs like "Another Piece of Meat" and "Falling in Love". He also wrote the words (lyrics) for some of their most famous songs. These include "Rock You Like a Hurricane", "Blackout", and "Bad Boys Running Wild".

Herman Rarebell studied drums and piano at the Musikhochschule Saarbrücken. He started playing drums in 1965 with a band called The Mastermen. Later, he played with The Fuggs Blues and RS Rindfleisch. With RS Rindfleisch, he released a single song and performed in clubs for the US military in Germany.

In the early 1970s, he played on three albums with the band Missus Beastly. After that, he joined a band called Onyx, which later changed its name to Vineyard. While he was a member of the Scorpions, Herman Rarebell also released two solo albums. These were Nip in the Bud (1981) and Herman Ze German (1986).

Herman Rarebell has always used Ludwig drums and Paiste cymbals. He used these instruments throughout his entire time with the Scorpions. Sometimes, he would change the number of drums and cymbals he had in his setup for different performances.
