Hermann Stadler's Football Journey
Starting as a Player
Hermann Stadler began his football journey at his local club, Oberndorfer SK. He started his professional career in 1979. This is when he joined SV Austria Salzburg. In 1983, he moved to Rapid Wien. He joined with his good friend, Leo Lainer.
However, Stadler did not play many games for Rapid Wien. So, he decided to leave the club. He then played for a short time at SK VOEST Linz. After that, he went back to Salzburg. At that time, SV Austria Salzburg was playing in the second division.
Success with Salzburg
Hermann Stadler had his greatest success as a player with SV Austria Salzburg. He helped them win the Austrian championship twice. This means they were the best team in Austria two times. He also played in the final of the UEFA Cup in 1994. This was a big European competition. His team played against Inter Milan in that final.
His playing career ended in 1996. He played a total of 380 league matches. Most of these (323) were for Salzburg. He scored 38 goals during his career.
Becoming a Coach
After he stopped playing, Hermann Stadler stayed with SV Austria Salzburg. He became a coach for the team. He also coached different Austrian national youth teams. These are teams for young players from Austria.
He even led the Austrian under-17 team to a major tournament. This was the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup. It's a big competition for young football players from all over the world.
