Hernán Claret Alemán Pérez (born May 21, 1955 – died July 7, 2020) was a Venezuelan politician. He was a member of the National Assembly, which is like the parliament or congress of Venezuela. He represented the state of Zulia. Alemán belonged to the Acción Democrática (AD) political party.
Political Career of Hernán Alemán
Hernán Alemán had an important career in Venezuelan politics. He served as the mayor of the city of Cabimas twice. A mayor is the leader of a city or town. He was mayor from 1989 to 1996, and again from 2000 to 2008.
Later, Alemán was chosen to be a deputy in the National Assembly. A deputy is a person elected to represent a certain area in the country's government. He was first elected for the period from 2011 to 2015. He was reelected for another term, from 2016 to 2021. He was part of a group of opposition parties called the Mesa de la Unidad Democrática.
