Hideki Sahara (born May 15, 1978) is a former Japanese football player. He was known for playing as a defender.

Hideki Sahara's Football Journey

Hideki Sahara started his football journey in his hometown of Yokohama. After finishing high school, he joined Kawasaki Frontale in 1997. At that time, Kawasaki Frontale was part of the Japan Football League.

He quickly started playing in many games in 1998. His team, Kawasaki Frontale, then moved up to a new league called the J2 League in 1999.

Becoming a Key Player

In 1999, Hideki became a key player, often playing as a central defender. He helped his team win the J2 League championship. This win meant Kawasaki Frontale was promoted to the top league, the J1 League, in 2000.

Early in 2000, Hideki was still a regular player. However, he got injured and couldn't play for almost two seasons. His team, Kawasaki Frontale, was also moved back down to the J2 League in 2001.

Returning to the Field

Hideki returned to playing in 2002. But he didn't play as many games because other strong defenders were also on the team.

In 2004, he started playing more often. That year, Kawasaki Frontale won the J2 League championship again. This allowed them to return to the J1 League in 2005.

Loan to FC Tokyo and Cup Win

In 2007, Hideki moved to FC Tokyo for a short time, which is called a loan. He played many games as a central defender for FC Tokyo in 2008.

Even though he was injured and couldn't play much in 2009, FC Tokyo won the 2009 J.League Cup. They won the final match against his former team, Kawasaki Frontale.

Retirement from Football

In 2010, Hideki Sahara returned to Kawasaki Frontale. He played his last season there and retired from professional football at the end of 2010.
