Hilary L. Rubinstein (born in 1946) is an Australian historian and author. She studies and writes about two main areas: British naval history (stories about ships and navies) and modern Jewish history (the history of Jewish people in recent times).

About Hilary L. Rubinstein
Hilary L. Rubinstein went to Keele University in England. There, she studied economics, history, and politics. She also spent a year studying in Pennsylvania, USA. Later, she earned a master's degree in librarianship from Simmons College. She then completed her PhD in history at the Australian National University. A PhD is a very high university degree, showing deep knowledge in a subject.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. This means she is recognized for her important work in history. From 2013 to 2015, she was a research fellow at Monash University. She also helps edit the Australian Jewish Historical Society Journal.
Hilary Rubinstein has written for important reference books. These include the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography and the Australian Dictionary of Biography. These books contain life stories of famous people. She also worked with the Navy Records Society. This group helps preserve naval history.
One of her recent books is about the sinking of HMS Royal George in 1782. While researching this book, she made an interesting discovery. She found out that Admirals Kempenfelt and Rodney were cousins! This book is considered a very important account of the event.
In 2021, Hilary Rubinstein received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM). This award recognized her great service to community history.
