Hildegarde Haas was a talented artist known for her paintings. She started her art journey by taking summer classes at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. After that, she studied for two years at the University of Chicago.
Art Training and New Skills
Hildegarde received a special scholarship to the Art Students League of New York. There, she learned from famous artists like Vaclav Vytlacil and Morris Kantor. For seven years, she focused on carving. However, carving was very physically demanding. Because of this, she decided to switch to painting instead.
In 1951, Hildegarde Haas moved to Northern California. She quickly became involved with many art groups in the Bay Area.
