Hillcrest General Hospital was a hospital located in Queens, New York. It first opened its doors around 1962. A doctor who worked there for 25 years helped start the hospital.

Hillcrest was a private hospital, meaning it was owned by a company or person, not the government. Later, it was sold to an investor. This investor then rented the building to another group called Osteopathic Hospital and Clinic. During this time, GHI owned Hillcrest.

A New Name: St. Joseph's Hospital

The Osteopathic Hospital and Clinic group eventually moved to a different hospital building they had bought earlier. In 1985, the 5-story Hillcrest building got a new name: St. Joseph's Hospital.

Closing St. Joseph's Hospital

St. Joseph's Hospital was run by St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers starting in 2000. In April 2004, there was a plan to close the hospital. The people in charge felt that closing it might not cause many problems for healthcare in the area. This was because several other hospitals were nearby.

The hospital officially closed in 2007. After it closed, the building was used for a different purpose. It became home to the Cornerstone of Medical Arts Center Hospital. This new center focused on services that did not require patients to stay overnight.
