Kumon's Football Journey

Hiroaki Kumon was born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, on October 20, 1966. After finishing his studies at Aoyama Gakuin University, he began his professional football career.

Starting with Furukawa Electric

In 1989, Kumon joined the Japan Soccer League club Furukawa Electric. He quickly became an important player for the team. He played as a left side back, a position where he helped defend the goal and also supported attacks from the side of the field.

Success with Bellmare Hiratsuka

In 1992, Kumon moved to Fujita Industries, a club based in his home area. This team was part of the Japan Football League at the time. The club had a fantastic year in 1993, winning the championship. This victory meant they were promoted to the top league, the J1 League, starting in 1994.

From 1994 onwards, Kumon played in many matches for the club, which was now known as Bellmare Hiratsuka. He was a regular player, meaning he played almost every game. During this time, the team achieved even more success. They won the 1994 Emperor's Cup, which is a major football tournament in Japan. They also won the 1995 Asian Cup Winners' Cup, a big competition for clubs across Asia.

Joining Yokohama FC and Retirement

After the 1998 season, Kumon left Bellmare Hiratsuka. In 1999, he joined a new club called Yokohama FC, which was also in the Japan Football League. Yokohama FC had an amazing run, winning the championship two years in a row, in 1999 and 2000. These wins led to the club being promoted to the J2 League.

Kumon continued to play for Yokohama FC in the J2 League. He played until the end of the 2002 season, when he decided to retire from professional football. He had a long and successful career, playing for 14 years and helping his teams win several important titles.
