Hiroshi Hirakawa (平川 弘, Hirakawa Hiroshi, born January 10, 1965) is a former Japanese football player. He was born on January 10, 1965, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Hirakawa played as a defender and midfielder. He is well-known for his time with Yokohama Marinos and for playing for the Japan national team.

A Football Journey: Hiroshi Hirakawa's Career
Hiroshi Hirakawa started his football journey in his home country, Japan. He became a professional player after finishing his studies at Juntendo University.
Playing for Nissan Motors and Yokohama Marinos
In 1987, Hirakawa joined a team called Nissan Motors. This team later changed its name to Yokohama Marinos. He played for them for many years, from 1987 to 1994.
During his time with Nissan Motors, the team was very successful. Between 1988 and 1990, they won Japan's three biggest football titles multiple times. These titles included the Japan Soccer League, the JSL Cup, and the Emperor's Cup. They even won some of these titles for two years in a row!
In the early 1990s, the club continued its winning streak. They won the 1990 JSL Cup, and the Emperor's Cup in both 1991 and 1992. On the international stage, the team also won the Asian Cup Winners' Cup twice, in 1991–92 and 1992–93. This was a big achievement for a Japanese club.
Later Career and Retirement
Towards the end of his playing career, Hirakawa moved to other teams. In 1995, he played for Yokohama Flügels. The next year, in 1996, he joined Consadole Sapporo. After playing for Consadole Sapporo, Hiroshi Hirakawa decided to retire from professional football in 1996. He played a total of 128 league games and scored 5 goals in his club career.
Representing Japan: National Team Career
Hiroshi Hirakawa also had the honor of playing for the Japan national football team. His first call-up to the national team was in March 1985. This was for the 1986 World Cup qualification matches.
First Appearance for Japan
On March 21, 1985, he made his debut for Japan against North Korea. After joining Nissan Motors, he was selected to play for Japan again in 1988 and 1989. In 1992, he played one more game for the national team, which was his first appearance in three years. In total, Hiroshi Hirakawa played 13 games for the Japan national team between 1985 and 1992.
