Hiroyoshi Kuwabara (桑原 裕義, Kuwabara Hiroyoshi, born October 2, 1971) is a former Japanese football player. He was a talented midfielder known for his long and successful career in Japanese football. He played for several clubs, including Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Giravanz Kitakyushu.

A Football Journey

Hiroyoshi Kuwabara was born in Hiroshima, Japan, on October 2, 1971. He loved football from a young age. After finishing his studies at Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences, he started his professional career.

Starting with Sanfrecce Hiroshima

In 1994, Hiroyoshi joined his hometown club, Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He quickly became a key player for the team. From 1995 onwards, he played in many matches. He was mostly a defensive midfielder, helping to protect the team's goal. But he could also play in other positions, like a central defender.

During his time with Sanfrecce Hiroshima, the team did very well. They finished second in the Emperor's Cup in both 1995 and 1996. Hiroyoshi played for Sanfrecce Hiroshima for a long time, until 2003.

Moving to Albirex Niigata

In 2004, Hiroyoshi moved to Albirex Niigata. This club had just been promoted to the top league, J1 League. He continued to play many games as a defensive midfielder for two seasons. However, at the end of 2005, the club decided to bring in younger players. So, Hiroyoshi left the team.

Playing for Giravanz Kitakyushu

In 2006, Hiroyoshi joined Giravanz Kitakyushu, which was then known as New Wave Kitakyushu. This team was in a lower league at the time. He became a regular player there. His experience helped the team a lot.

The club worked hard and achieved great things. They were promoted to the Japan Football League (JFL) in 2008. Then, in 2010, they moved up again to the J2 League. This was a big step for the club!

A Short Loan and Retirement

In October 2010, Hiroyoshi had a short loan spell at Fagiano Okayama. After that, he returned to Kitakyushu in 2011. He continued to play as a regular player for Giravanz Kitakyushu.

Hiroyoshi Kuwabara played professional football until he was 40 years old. He retired at the end of the 2011 season. He had a very long and successful career, playing over 400 matches in total.
