Hiroyoshi Kuwabara (桑原 裕義, Kuwabara Hiroyoshi, born October 2, 1971) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defensive midfielder for several clubs during his career.

Hiroyoshi Kuwabara's Football Journey

Hiroyoshi Kuwabara was born in Hiroshima, Japan, on October 2, 1971. After finishing his studies at Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences, he began his professional football career.

Starting with Sanfrecce Hiroshima

In 1994, Kuwabara joined his hometown club, Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He quickly became an important player for the team starting in 1995. He played in many matches for a long time. His main role was as a defensive midfielder, helping protect the team's goal. He also sometimes played as a central defender.

During his time with Sanfrecce Hiroshima, the club achieved good results. They finished second in the Emperor's Cup in both 1995 and 1996. Kuwabara played a big part in these achievements. However, after 2002, he started to play less often for the team.

Moving to Albirex Niigata

In 2004, Kuwabara moved to Albirex Niigata, a club that had just been promoted to the top Japanese league, J1 League. He continued to play many games as a defensive midfielder for two seasons. Even though he played well, the club decided to make changes to their team, and he left at the end of the 2005 season.

Later Career and Retirement

In 2006, Kuwabara joined New Wave Kitakyushu, which was playing in the Regional Leagues at the time. This club later changed its name to Giravanz Kitakyushu. He became a regular player there.

His team, New Wave Kitakyushu, worked hard and moved up through the leagues. They were promoted to the Japan Football League (JFL) in 2008 and then to the J2 League in 2010. In October 2010, he had a short loan spell at Fagiano Okayama. He returned to Kitakyushu in 2011.

Hiroyoshi Kuwabara played until he was 40 years old. He retired from professional football at the end of the 2011 season, after a long and successful career.
