History of bus transport in Hong Kong facts for kids
The history of bus transport in Hong Kong began in 1920. That's when the very first bus route started carrying passengers around the city. Buses have been a super important way for people to get around Hong Kong for over a hundred years!
Buses During and After World War II
During World War II, Hong Kong was occupied by Japan. The Japanese government tried to get the bus service back to normal. But it was very hard because there wasn't enough petrol (fuel) for the buses.
After the war ended, things slowly got better. Bus companies first used vans to carry people. Then, they bought about 100 new buses from the United Kingdom. This helped bring proper bus services back to Hong Kong.
