Hog Lake is a natural freshwater lake located in Highlands County, Florida. It's part of the Sun 'N Lakes community, a lovely area where people live and visit. This lake is a natural spot, meaning it wasn't built by people, and it's a great place to learn about Florida's natural environment.
About Hog Lake
Hog Lake covers an area of about 19.6 acres (which is roughly the size of 15 football fields!). What's really cool is that about 1 acre of this lake is actually a small island. But here's the twist: this island was made by people, not nature!
The lake is easy to find because it's right inside a park, just north of the Sun 'N Lakes community center. There's even a country club restaurant nearby, making it a central spot in the community.
Exploring the Island
You can reach the island in Hog Lake by walking across a wooden footbridge. It's a fun little adventure! Once you're on the island, you'll find a 75-foot pier on its north side.
