Hooker, Ohio facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Hooker is a small, quiet place in Fairfield County, Ohio, in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that aren't officially part of a city or town. Instead, it's governed by the county.

History of Hooker

The area that became Hooker started with a post office. It was first opened in 1869 and called Hookers Station. A post office is where people send and receive mail. Later, in 1882, the name was changed to just Hooker.

Life in Hooker was different back then. In 1912, about 300 people lived there. This shows it was a small but active community. The post office, which was an important part of daily life, eventually closed in 1932. Even though the post office is gone, Hooker remains a part of Fairfield County's history.
