Horace Jenkins (born June 15, 1891 – died March 1, 1962) was a talented American baseball player. He played as an outfielder in the Negro Leagues between 1910 and 1921.
Horace Jenkins' Baseball Journey
Horace Jenkins was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he went to Hyde Park Academy High School.
Horace started his professional baseball career in 1910. He joined the Chicago Giants, a team in the Negro Leagues. The Negro Leagues were baseball leagues for African American players. These leagues were very important during a time when Black players were not allowed to play in Major League Baseball.
Jenkins played for several teams during his career. He was part of the Chicago Union Giants and the Chicago American Giants. He returned to play for the Chicago Giants from 1919 until 1921. Horace Jenkins passed away in Manteno, Illinois, in 1962, at the age of 70.
