The Houston Auto Show is a big event held every year in January. It's a place where you can see many new cars! The show lasts for five days at NRG Park in Houston. Many major car companies come to show off their latest models. Each year, over 500 new cars, including electric and concept cars, are displayed. More than 40 car makers participate. The Houston Automobile Dealers Association organizes this exciting show.

History of the Show

The very first Houston Auto Show happened in the 1950s. It was held at a place called the Sam Houston Coliseum. Later, in 1984, the show moved to the Astrohall. It stayed there for many years, until 2001.

In 2002, the show moved again to its current home, the Reliant Center. This building is now known as the NRG Center. Many people love to visit the show. It often attracts over 450,000 visitors! By 2018, the show covered a huge area, more than 800,000 square feet. Over 40 different car companies showed their vehicles.

The show planned for January 2021 was postponed. This was done to keep everyone safe during a pandemic.

New Car Reveals

The Houston Auto Show is sometimes chosen to show off brand new cars to the world. For example, the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee was first shown here in 2012. Also, the 2007 Ford Expedition made its world debut at the show in 2006.
