Huck Finn's Playland is a fun amusement park located in Albany, New York. It first opened its doors in 2015. This park is special because it features many of the rides that used to be at the old Hoffman's Playland.
Park History
In 2014, David and Ruth Hoffman, who owned Hoffman's Playland in Latham, NY, announced some big news. They said their park would close in September. The Hoffmans had tried to find someone to buy their amusement rides, but they couldn't. This meant the rides were going to be sold at an auction.
Soon after Hoffman's Playland closed, the owners of Huck Finn's Playland made an exciting announcement. They planned to buy the rides! Their goal was to build a brand new park right next to their furniture store in Albany.
The new park was built on an empty 3-acre piece of land. It opened in June 2015. Huck Finn's Playland now has the classic rides from Hoffman's Playland. It also features a new building for snacks and an arcade inside a large warehouse. Some bumper cars, called Lusse Auto Skooter, were bought but not rebuilt at the new park. They were later sold to Knoebels Amusement Resort in 2017, where they are used today.
The 2020 season at Huck Finn's Playland was canceled. This happened because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first time in the park's history that it didn't open for a season.
