Hugh Glasier (died 6 July 1610) was an English politician. He served in the House of Commons, which was an important part of England's government, between 1601 and 1610.

Early Life and Family

Hugh Glasier was born in Chester, England. He was the second son of William Glasier and his first wife, Elizabeth Aglionby. His father was a very important official in Chester, called the vice-chamberlain. This meant his father helped manage the local government.

Hugh Glasier studied law at a famous school called Inner Temple in 1580. This was a place where people learned to become lawyers. When his father passed away in 1588, Hugh inherited some land. Later, in 1595, he also inherited his family's main estate in Lea when his brother died without children. He also became an Alderman of Chester. An Alderman was a senior member of the city council.

Political Career

Hugh Glasier became a very active person in politics. In 1601, he was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP) for Chester. An MP is someone elected to represent their town or area in the House of Commons. This was where laws were made and important decisions for the country were discussed.

The next year, from 1602 to 1603, Glasier served as the Mayor of Chester. The Mayor is the leader of a city, responsible for its daily running and representing its people. In 1604, he was elected again as an MP for Chester, showing that people trusted him to represent them. He also helped the vice-chamberlain in 1604.

Later Life

Hugh Glasier passed away in London on 6 July 1610. He was married to Mary Crispe.
