Hugh MacDonald (born 1945) is a Canadian writer. He writes poems and books for children. He also works as an editor. Hugh MacDonald lives in Montague, Prince Edward Island.
He has won many awards for his writing. These include the L.M. Montgomery Children's Literature Award in 1990. He also received an award in 2004 for his great work in literature on Prince Edward Island.
In 2010, he became the Poet Laureate for Prince Edward Island. This means he was the official poet for the province for three years. The government of Prince Edward Island chose him for this special role.
