Hugo Hernán Maradona (born 9 May 1969 – died 28 December 2021) was an Argentine football player and coach. He was the younger brother of the famous footballer Diego Maradona. Hugo played as a midfielder for many teams in South America, Europe, Japan, and Canada. He also played for the Argentina U-16 national team.

Early Years and International Play
In 1985, Hugo was part of the Argentina U-16 national team. They played in the U-16 World Championship in China. In one match against Congo, he scored two goals. Even with his goals, Argentina did not make it past the first round.
Playing in Europe
In 1987, Hugo Maradona moved to Italy to play for Ascoli in the top Italian league, Serie A. He played 13 matches there. After one season, he moved to Spain to play for Rayo Vallecano. In 1989, he played for Rapid Wien in Austria before returning to Argentina.
Adventures in Japan
In 1992, Hugo moved to Japan. He joined a team called PJM Futures. This team later changed its name to Tosu Futures. He played for them for three seasons. After that, he played for Fukuoka Blux (which became Avispa Fukuoka) in 1995 and 1996. Then he played for Consadole Sapporo in 1997 and 1998. He played in Japan's top league, the J1 League, in 1996 and 1998.

Coaching Career
In 2004, Hugo Maradona moved to Puerto Rico. He became the head coach for the Puerto Rico Islanders. This team played in the American USL First Division. He helped the country's football federation try to make the sport more popular there. Later, he moved back to Italy. He worked with several youth and amateur football teams in the Naples area.

Hugo Maradona was born in Lanús, Argentina, on 9 May 1969. He was the youngest of three brothers. His older brothers were Diego Maradona and Raúl Maradona, who were also well-known footballers. His father, Diego Maradona, worked in a chemicals factory. His family had roots from the Guaraní (an Indigenous group) and Galicia in Spain. His mother, Dalma Salvadora Franco, had Italian family roots.
Hugo Maradona passed away from a heart attack at his home in Monte di Procida, near Naples, Italy. He was 52 years old when he died on 28 December 2021.
