Hugo Rodríguez-Alcalá (1917–2007) was a famous writer from Paraguay. He was known for his poems, stories, and essays. He also studied and wrote about literature.
Hugo Rodríguez-Alcalá was born in Asunción, Paraguay, on November 25, 1917. He studied at the National University of Asunción, where he earned a degree in Laws and Social Sciences in 1943. Later, he continued his studies in the United States. He received a special degree in literature from the University of Wisconsin in 1953.
He was a very important writer in Paraguay. In 1999, he received the National Prize for Literature. This is one of the highest awards a writer can get in Paraguay. He passed away on November 16, 2007, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
