History

The community of Hyatts was officially planned in 1876. A man named Henry A. Hyatt created the first map for the area. He divided the land into lots for homes and streets. The community was named after him.

Over the years, Hyatts has been called by a few different names. Some of these old names include Hyatt's, Hyatts Station, and Hyattsville. People also sometimes called it Hyattville, Hyatville, or Hytts.

A post office was opened in Hyattville in 1877. It helped people send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed down in 1908.
