Early Studies and Awards
When Ilana Vered was 13, she went to the famous Paris Conservatoire music school. She studied piano there for two years and won first prize when she graduated. Her teachers included Vlado Perlemuter and Jeanne-Marie Darré. Later, she continued her music studies at the Juilliard School in New York City. There, she learned from the well-known teacher Rosina Lhévinne. In 1961, she won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. This award helped her begin her amazing career as a concert pianist.
Playing Around the World
Ilana Vered has played with many of the world's top orchestras. These include the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony, and the London Symphony. She has performed with famous conductors like Zubin Mehta and Leopold Stokowski. She has also played as a chamber musician, which means performing with a small group of musicians. In the 1970s, Ilana Vered made many recordings for Decca. She was the first person to record all of Moszkowski's 15 Études de Virtuosité, Op. 72, in 1970. She also recorded five of Beethoven's piano concertos. Plus, she recorded pieces by Rachmaninoff, Mozart, and Brahms.
