Description: Designed by James Barnette, Sydney's General Post Office was constructed over the time period from 1866 - 1891. It is located at the end of Martin Place between Pitt and George St. The building was the location of NSW Postal system's head office until 1996, when it was sold and refurbished. It appears that the granite column in the picture taken by Sharkie could be the columns bordering either side of the Queen Victoria Statue located over the buildings main entrance.
