Description: Although these looked like the Tetons to me as we flew over them, our GPS showed a path well south of there; and we were looking southward from the plane. These are the Wind River Range in western Wyoming. In fact those on the left (southern) edge are the Cirque of the Towers, a remote and favored climbing location. The most distinctive of the towers is the tooth-shaped Pingora. Behind it are , left to right (clockwise), War Bonnet Peak, Warrior Peaks, Pylon Peak and Wolf's Head and then Pingora itself. In front, and still frozen in late June, is Lonesome Lake. Mouse over to bring out the notes, and more detail.
