Wolfs Head is a tall mountain in the Wind River Range in Wyoming, a state in the western United States. It stands at about 12,165-foot (3,708 m) high. This mountain is found on the northwest side of an area called the Cirque of the Towers, which is very popular for climbing.

Wolfs Head is located just north of Overhanging Tower. It is connected to Pingora Peak by a narrow, sharp ridge of rock called an arête. A famous climbing path on Wolfs Head, known as the East Ridge, is mentioned in a well-known climbing book called Fifty Classic Climbs of North America. This shows how important and challenging the climb is. Wolfs Head is also part of the Continental Divide, which is a line of high ground that separates rivers flowing to the Pacific Ocean from those flowing to the Atlantic Ocean.

Staying Safe in the Mountains

When exploring the Wind River Range, it's important to be aware of your surroundings. This area is home to bears, so knowing how to act around them is key for safety.

Common Outdoor Challenges

Besides bears, there are other things to consider when you are outdoors. These can include bugs, wildfires, and tricky snow conditions. Even in summer, nights can get very cold, so it's important to be prepared for low temperatures.

Being Careful on Cliffs

Some parts of the mountains have very steep cliffs. It's super important to be careful because a small slip could be dangerous. Over the years, there have been some sad incidents involving falls from rocks. This shows how important it is to always pay attention and be safe when climbing or hiking in challenging areas.
