Description: AWM caption : Australia: Northern Territory, Batchelor. Members of the crew and ground staff standing in front of a Lockheed Hudson bomber aircraft of No. 2 Squadron RAAF. Note the bombs ready to be loaded onto the aircraft. Leading Aircraftman Russell is standing second from left (3). The Hudson (constructor's no 6495) is A16-242, which, late in the evening of 13 March 1943 had departed from Batchelor with Hudson A1 6-238 to carry out an anti-submarine patrol ahead of 'Bathurst' class minesweeper HMAS Latrobe which was escorting ammunition supply issuing ship SS Darvel and SS Burwah. These merchantmen usually ran supplies from Darwin to such locations as Thursday Island and Millingimbi. Pilot Flying Officer Graham was forced to crash land A16-242 at Annisley Point on the Coburg Peninsula early the next morning and the Hudson was written off and converted to components. The crew were uninjured.
