Description: Marylebone - Woodford Halse stopping train at Amersham. View eastward, towards London: ex-Metropolitan & Great Central Joint line, Baker Street - Aylesbury by Met., Marylebone - Leicester - Sheffield by GC. The ex-GC 'London Extension' main line had been taken over by the LMR in 1958 and was rapidly run down, to be closed entirely in 1966: meanwhile ex-LMS motive-power was substituted for ex-LNER locomotives. Here ex-LMS Stanier 5MT 4-6-0 No. 45215 (built 1935, withdrawn 10/67) is working the 13.30 stopping-train from Marylebone, which at that time called at several LT stations including Amersham. The station has typical Metropolitan architecture and of course London Transport nameboards.
