Image: Bony fish eye multilang
Description: Diagrammatic vertical section of the eye of a bony fish (actually a teleost fish). This is a typical representation which is found numerously in textbooks and throughout the internet. All these representations, including the one above, are more ore less significantly modified adaptations of a figure from the fundamental ophthalmological work of Walls (1942)[1]. Note that the section does not cut through the lens, and that it is indicated that the retractor lentis (as well as the ‘antagonistic’ ligament) attaches at the side of the lens (likewise their opposite ends are caudally and rostrally, respectively, attached to the internal wall of the eye ball rather than ventrally and dorsally, respectively).
