Description: What’s under the dress? Why, feet of course! In this case, they’re enclosed in traditional wooden clogs. The occasion is a festival to celebrate the “Re-Conquest” of Vigo in 1809, and we just happen to be visiting right in the middle of it all. There are gents in floppy felt hats, collarless shirts and waistcoats playing traditional musical instruments, while the ladies in particular are swaying and twirling to their hearts content, wearing colourful outfits that include flaring ankle-length skirts. It is a vibrant, noisy occasion – and not a musket in sight. Looks like the home side won then.
