Description: In 1906, Vincent Cooper displayed a cello at the Cremona Society in London said to be the work of del Gesù (Giuseppe Guarneri). The soundholes on the two cellos which modern scholarship believes were finished by del Gesù in 1729 and 1731 (Cozio Archive No. 40383 and 43989 respectively) are shown alongside the Cooper cello. It can be seen that the wings of the Cooper cello (the tangs intruding into the end scrolls are far wider on the del Gesù cellos.
