Description: The Continental and Commercial National Bank (1914) in Chicago. Situated across the street from the Rookery, the longtime headquarters of Daniel Burnham, the bank was designed by Graham, Burnham & Co. after Daniel Burnham's death. JW Marriott recently converted the first twelve floors to a hotel. In 1984, Continental Illinois gained the dubious distinction of being the largest bank to ever fail until being dwarfed by Washington Mutual in 2008. This is an image of a place or building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in the United States of America. Its reference number is 7000064.
