Description: The arms were granted on December 11, 1967. They combine the symbols of the former rulers in the district. The lion is taken from the arms of the Counts of Sayn. The wall anchor is taken from the arms of the Lords of Wildenburg, (later Lords of Hatzfeld). The cross symbolises the Electorate of Cologne and the Electorate of Trier.
