Description: Despite the heavy rainfall Darjeeling sometimes witnesses and all that tea growing all around, Darjeeling sometimes faces an acute water shortage. It's during times like these that these water tankers come to the rescue, bringing in water from faraway places. I was fascinated by this antique Tata water tanker (dating from the 1970s) outside our hotel. And although trucks in those days were not as long as those today, this one has had its chassis shortened even further due to the hilly terrain and sharp curves. (May 2009)
