Description: Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England talks with author, actor and commentator Ben Stein following his presentation of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service in the Pentagon on April 15, 2008. Stein received the award, DoD's highest commendation for public service, in recognition of his passionate support of our armed forces and in particular the program Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. All proceeds from Stein's book "The Real Stars: In Today's America, Who Are the True Heroes?" have been donated to the organization, which provides grief counseling to the families of fallen military personnel. The organization's founder and director Bonnie Carroll was also awarded the medal.
