Description: Dunston Power Station, dominates the centre left of the photograph with Vickers Engineering Works across the Tyne. The Newcastle to Carlisle railway line bisects the image and you can pick out an engine on the line almost in the centre of the shot. Work on the Metro Centre began in 1984 on the large area derelict land on the left. The famous Dunston ‘Rocket’ flats can be seen on the horizon.
